Nodding Off To Budding Philosophers
Nodding Off To Budding PhilosophersIn this piece I'm going to explain what to consider when looking for quirky philosophy essay topics. In the first place, I think it's essential to know what to look for before even making a selection. Let's look at a few quirky philosophy essay topics and then I'll offer my suggestions. For example, suppose that we want to write a funny biography of a famous philosopher. What kind of issues should we tackle? Well, for starters we should not simply choose someone from the range of different political philosophies because some philosophers are philosophically liberal and others are philosophically conservative. Rather, we should try to understand their views, their background and their philosophy, before attempting to write about them. This means that if they were a political prisoner, or had been in jail for any length of time, it would be inappropriate to write about their philosophical views. Also, unless we are trying to write satire about their vie ws, we shouldn't spend too much time trying to understand them either. If a philosopher is interesting, they should stand out in some way, not necessarily by breaking the rules of informal style. That said, this doesn't mean that we should avoid discussing the scientific method, particularly if the philosopher was a scientist. However, don't attempt to portray them as a scientist without including them in the scientific method. This also means that you shouldn't spend too much time on explaining things that they may have said in their earlier work. So, even if it's a bit difficult to interpret their later work, remember that it should stand out in some way without distracting from the main point of the essay. As a final note, it's also essential to make sure that we avoid focusing too much on generalisation and standard philosophical positions. It's actually quite easy to get caught up in this as well because when it comes to writing a humorous biography of a famous philosopher, we te nd to take these positions as being more central to their philosophy than they actually were. When we can avoid that trap, it helps to be able to discuss those positions as being central to them in more detail. So, even if the philosopher's views on such issues aren't particularly interesting, we can still highlight them in a more comprehensive way that is more interesting. The other reason why I think it's essential to approach quirky philosophy essay topics with an eye to avoiding this trap is that many philosophers were so successful that they only attracted followers who were already interested in their positions. This means that their followers didn't take their work seriously enough to think about anything other than what they had already read. This in turn means that people who are interested in writing quirky philosophy essays will tend to follow the same set of philosophers and for a long time have been under the impression that these philosophers only held certain views.By c ontrast, when we have written a witty but serious essay, we can show people that there is a great deal of variety within the range of philosophical views. In addition, by treating all philosophers as being equally competent and having a wide range of views, we can show that the philosopher's work isn't just one-dimensional.
